Photo Journal: GWB at the Garden Festival
Aloha! Sorry, I just came back from a 3 week long winter hibernation. And it's spring! But I shall post that another day. After not updating for 3 whole weeks, I feel I owe you guys lots. So here's a photo journal, meaning that there is not only ONE photo, but lots! The halloween post is an example of a photo journal too. Oh, and I'll be tagging the posts soon, but I'll tell you next time. Anyway, these were taken at the Singapore Garden Festival...(let me think)...exactly on the 30th of July last year! A veryveryvery long time ago. :P
Okaaay, so here's GWB's outfit. Cool right! The skirt is very kindly donated by my brother ( :0). Actually it's from the sushi box. You know, those kind of artificial grass or something which he likes to play with. Anyway, the flower is made by hand! Yes, made, not bought! My neighbour bought me hard clay that we moulded together. You put your final product into the oven and it becomes super hard and strong. This particular flower was created by my mum with the leftover clay. It's supposed to be some kind of button by the way. And here's a photo of the chicken-thingy toy that my brother calls Tropo. I post about it only cos' it's like a form of repayment...?
Here's a photo of a 'fantasy garden'. It's my favourite, and apparently the audience's favourite too (by popular voting)! It's like an underwater garden. The underwater effect is created by having like a shallow pool on the top with strong light streaming in. So cool right? The festival has stuff like this and lotslots more which I can't possibly put up every single one here. If you missed last year's I think it's shown every two years, so you can go next year! :D
This is just a random (but nice) photo. :) It makes GWB look like some flower fairy that you read in Enid Blyton books. By the way, if you have NEVER read her books (yes, it's a HER), you are seriously missing out in life. Her books were what started my reading fever!
These flowers make me go OMG. The first time I saw them, I could not believe that they are real! They are so big, and so perfect, and so beautiful, and so unreal, and so vividly coloured, and so OMG. The lilies were bigger than both of my fists! Just compare them to GWB.
Tulips from Netherlands! I bought loads, but because it's hot and humid Singapore, they were sent to heaven in a really short time.
Here's a poster about a lucky draw entitled to anyone who was at the festival. We could stand a chance to have a just discovered pitcher plant named after us! Quite novel actually. But I posted this because I was thinking, what if GWB signed up and won? Then it'll be called the GWB pitcher plant. :D But I read the newspaper last time that someone already won. Oh well. The festival organisers gave people these cute ballons. 100% Organic. Hahas!
At home, I took two photos using parts of the plants. The first is from a venus flytrap, and the second a tulip petal. The second is really emo-ish. :)

Ahaha, I know that looks sadistic. :P Yeah, actually they were drying out from washing after like dunno how many years sitting on the window sill. There are...20 to 30 plus of them. Everytime I try to count them, I always get different results. Anyway... There is an interesting story behind them. *Ahem* A long, long time ago, when I was super duper young, there was this promotion at McDonalds which offered these beanies with every Happy Meal (Yes, they had Happy Meals even in the old times). So, me, being the super duper young child, pestered my aunt for one. She obliged, but she didn't only gave me one. She gave me the whole set! Yes, she had a horrible time eating Happy Meals once a week for 20 to 30 weeks. :P Even I wouldn't do that, no matter how much I love McDonalds. Yeah, so these are the treasured momentoes. :D Sesame Street! Yeah.

There was a lot of last minute shopping for clothes and hardly any decorations and festive songs at all. Because of recession, also less goodies to eat. :( I think this year's CNY was just too close to Christmas. RAWR. Anyway...here is something I drew in class (I know, it's a bad habit :P).

I put effort into it, kay? And I like it too. XD Maybe people will say that I'm very immature, still like Powerpuff Girls, but who really cares? I like the way the Powerpuff Girls are drawn. And the concept of girl power. 'Saving the World Before Bedtime' is also cute. I'm sure most of us watched this show when we were young. MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone I know plus all the strangers visiting this blog!
And a very big SORRY for not updating since goodness-knows-when. :D Since 13 Dec. 11 days ago. Really, really sorry.
Now, I have something that I haven't been able to post for quite some time already. It's GWB in the IKEA Christmas catalogue! I absolutely adore IKEA stuff 'cos they are so fascinating. I love the catalogues. Everything's so affordable and interesting. So here they are:

GWB got pretty bored after a while though, so it/she/he (which one is it?) started fooling around.
The director got really annoyed. His face was totally black. Freaky.
We moved on to the dining sets. There were three of them:
Pity there wasn't any food on the plates though, or else we could stuff our faces!
This was fun. We were playing around in the ornaments section and they decided to use the photo.
This was about recycling live unwanted christmas trees. GO GREEN!
We took this picture outside the sets for remembrance.

Photo Journal: Halloween 2008 We celebrated Halloween this year! :) It was really fun. Here I would be showing you what we did for decorations.
We got the styrofoam hand from Art Friend and stuck it beside the lift. We originally put a bigger pumpkin holder but it was too heavy and the styrofoam hand kept dropping. The great thing about the pumpkin holder is that my neighbours actually put sweets in it! ;) And I ate them all without my mum knowing. :D
Popcorn put into plastic gloves make good decorations as well as doorgifts. :) It was really messy trying to put the popcorn inside the gloves though.

But with the lights off, it looks like this: And I carved it myself! :D Great experience. However, flies started breeding in there so I had to throw it away after three days.
We also bought a lot of sticky plastic googly eyes (214, actually) and stuck them all over the door and gates. We made our guests try to guess how many there were. The person with the closest guess won a...WATERMELON!!! Yeah, my mom's on a healthy streak now. So all the prizes were fruits. :( Well, at least we got sweets from the trick-or-treat session! :D I love the monster lollipops. Made my friend's lips, tongue and even teeth green! Haha! She tried to rinse it off but it didn't work.
By the way, I managed to get the picture of the eyes resized. Here it is:
Oh yeah, for costumes, my mum bought a whole lot of junk like tissue rolls, gloves, plastic wrap and cotton balls for us to 'exercise our creativity'. We even had a costume contest. My friend and I just clipped on clips, the kind you use to hang your clothes, all over us. Even our hair was tied by a large clip. Not a good idea though. The clips kept falling off. :/
After everything, we played basketball! :) I love Halloween... <3
P. S. I changed the official Where Is The Love video (see post dated 30 July 2008) to the War-edition one because the official one was removed from YouTube. :( Anyway, go see it! :)

Blog Update: Anniversary of the day I adopted GWB!!! Today is the day that I adopted GWB 3 years ago! :) He...or she...IT has definitely come a long way, judging by the average lifespan of my stuff. XD Actually, 3 years ago (I think...or maybe a few days back), I received the brown puppy keychain in a goodie bag from a friend's party. I kinda didn't like it, so I exchanged it for...well, you guessed it...GWB!!! :) It had no name at the time, but after Teddy and my bear became friends, Christle had the unofficial honour to name it Great White Bear. Which I didn't really like (and still don't) but became accustomed to. Actually it isn't white anymore...it's sorta yellowish due to being dropped onto the floor and it also have faint blue ink marks on the top part of its head. :) And I had to stitch it up on several occasions so that the cotton wool would not appear out of the rips. Oh yeah, one eye is also smaller than another. It sort of sunk in. :( Well, at least it's still alive... GWB says: Do you think Starri will stop torturing me today since it's my birthday? Hmm....OH NO! She's coming! Don't tell her I said this!

She looks beautiful, can play many instruments, sings nice, composes catchy songs, etc. etc. But the most amazing fact is that she got well-known on YouTube! She actually signed up with Hollywood Records, and recently released her debut album, Unfold. I love listening to it! :) Here is the official video of one of the songs, Say It Again.

Photo: Go Team Singa! Okay people...sorry for not posting for so long. I've been on hiatus. :) So here is a brand new photo for you! Oh yeah you see the photo above? It's resized! Yay! So yes it is possible to resize. :) This photo is, well, supporting Team Singa! We've got one Silver medal! :) Although the women's tale tennis team are from China...if I'm not wrong, Tao Li is also from China. The women's and men's table tennis singles is finished for us...Ronald Susilo and the duo pair (dunno's what their names) are out of the badmintons games too, and our shooting and sailing is out too I think. Photo: GWB Supports Beijing Olympics 08-08-08 Whew! It's been a really LOOOONG day... I tried catching the official ceremony of the Beijing Olympics just now on TV, but we discovered we could not tune in to Channel 5 on our TV! We had no choice but to watch on Suria, the malay channel. Also, I only watched Part 2, where all the representatives of the countries were gathering at the Bird Nest Stadium. I waited at least one an a half hours before we saw Team Singapore...for three minutes! Sigh... However it was quite enjoyable. There was this country's president (I think), his wife and their son standing up when the country's team appeared. The president and the First Lady were waving enthusiastically but their son looked so bored. His mum whispered something to him and THEN he started waving pathetically. LOL! Must be missing his PSP at home. Oh well...

Blog Update: Stats Are Already Over The 100 Mark! :) WOOOOOOO~ My blog has more than a 100 hits since 29 June! :) Yeah! Didn't know my blog would be so popular...:P I should have found out who was the 100th person and maybe have a doorprize ready or something...LOL. So excited! I really love this blog.
